Is it feasible to live here and work in San Franciso? How is the commute?

Santa Rosa is a fine town. Still somewhat affordable (by Bay Area standards)... and it's close to some beautiful wine country scenery.

But the commute down US 101 can be grueling during rush hour, particularly from Novato to the Golden Gate Bridge. It is certainly feasible and many people do it everyday (which is why there's traffic), but you might want to look into the many carpools available (so you only actually do the driving once or twice a week) or drive to a park-and-ride lot and take public transit.

I've only visited, but I'd say it's not feasible to live there and work in SF unless you wouldn't mind driving at least an hour to get to work each way, and maybe more, depending on where in the city and where in Santa Rosa. I know some hip people who've lived there, and there are some fun wineries that always have things going on, like Roshambo and J.

It depends on your taste--if you like a small-town vibe with some separate and distinct options for hanging out, it's a reasonably priced and okay but not amazing place. But do yourself a favor and live somewhere closer if you'll be commuting every day. That's no way to live.

I would take the bus as many buses do leave Sonoma county to the city. It would save you time and expense. best to you.
