As a native San Franciscan, I would HIGHLY reccomend buca di beppo for Italian you can check them out online @ http://www.bucadibeppo.com/ (follow the links toneighborhood location...may set you back a little though) or italian style pizza North Beach Pizza, or you can pretty much go to any returaunt and get EXCELLENT food. Also Clown Alley for mmmmm burgers. Also just outside of the City in a 'burb called Daly City in Westlake Mall, you can get the BEST burgers ever @ Nations! Hope you have fun here!

Also the rainforest cafes a good bet, right next to the wharf, and for dessert, go to Guiradelli Square...YOU'LL LOVE IT!!! http://www.rainforestcafe.com/

Favorite Chinese restaurant is Brandy Ho's..on Columbus, favorite Pizza - Gaspares on Geary or Paradise Pizza in West Portal. I don't eat meat anymore but the House of Prime Ribs on Van Ness was a great place to go. North Beach Restuarant, in North Beach.

I moved out a few years ago, but I assume those places are still around. There is a Thai restuarant on every block and most of them are good.

Take a trip to Berkely to go to Alice Water's resteraunt, Chez Penise. She is the founder of Californian cuisine, using only fresh organic food. There is an upstairs cafe, lots of options of non-generic cafe food, and a downstairs. The downstairs portion you need reservations, and it is a set several course meal. Both are amazing and different of any dining experience ever had. Plus, by eating there you are supporting local farmers.
