We're visiting SF with a 3 yr old and a 1 year old. We'll be staying near Union Square and will not have a car. Any suggestions on good things to do?

all those destinations by the pier will be very fun. but if you want something to do around union square, you should look into the moscone center. it's a few blocks walk from union quare on missions st., the street after market. connected to the moscone center is the metreon, a huge theater. inside there's a huge sony playstation store and such. and it's a few blocks walk from union square on mission st, the street after market.

but the real attraction there for three and one year olds will be a place called "zeum." it's a shortened form of the word museum and is a center dedicated solely for kids. it has small bowling alleys, ice rinks, snack shops, playground, and even a merry go round. they also have daily workshops dedicated for little toddlers.

I assume you'll have a stroller with you for the 1 year old. Take a short little walk down to the Ferry Building on Tuesday or Saturday for the farmer's market. You'll get free samples of fruit. Also - there is a bakery there where you can get fresh bread and the 3 year old can run along the Embarcadero and look at the ocean. Best of all-- it's free!

Alternative is to take the cable car down to Fisherman's Wharf and explore the Hyde Street Pier. There are real life ships docked there that the 3 year old can explore.

Around Union Square there is nothing to do. The best thing you can do is take the cable car to fisherman's warf. It will cost $5 per person but people under 5 is free. Go to Pier 39 and there a bunch of places that the kids would like.

Take them on a ride on the San Francisco street cars, along Market Street, Powell, Lombard, Van Ness, and other attractive streets.

After that, take them to Pier 39 where they can enjoy of a big variety of food, sweets, drink, and the sea lions.

During daytime, rent bicycles or roller blades and ride to the the Golden Gate Bridge. There a couple of bike rental booths that you can rent bicycles along Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf and more.

At Pier 39, take them to the Aquarium, see all kinds of live sea animals, I'm sure they will love so much.

Past Fisherman's Wharf there's a pier with old ships, which you can take them there too, tour inside those ships, they'll like that.

Enjoy your day with them!

You can go see the Sea Lions. THey are really cute and the kids will love it, it is near pier 49. You cant miss it, Also you should try this great restaurant called Butterfly, its great. There are a lot of things for the kids to do and look at, just watch out for the homless guys. They wont bother you, if you are nice to them. Have fun!
