generally the sooner you buy tickets, the cheaper... there are 21-day, 14-day, and 7-day advanced fares... more than likely, anything inside of 7-days will be very expensive... but this structure isn't necessarily always the best deal... there are some restrictions, e.g., must stay over saturday night for domestic travel and 6-night stay for int'l travel, etc...

alternative 'good deals' might include sales, e-fares, and other specials... e-fares are restrictive in terms of dates & length of travel, e.g., must depart sat and return next mon or tues.... but can be a good deal as the airlines try to sell empty seats at the last minute... int'l e-fares are usually 6-7 day trips...

there are seasonal airfare sales... e.g., the first part of january usually brings sales... so does the first quarter of the year... there are some summer sales... some of these are destination dependent... e.g., north asia is cheaper during the winter... while south-east asia is more expensive during the cold months... also london is very reasonable during the winter...

and lastly, vacation package deals are worth investigating for airfare... safe travels.

I find that 4 to 6 months seem to yield the best results but this also depends on where you are going. Check www.kayak.com for the lowest priced air and once you find the flight you looking for book direct with the airline. Book when you feel the price is fare. Airlines can change their prices over 9 times in a single day usually less on the weekend.

The best thing to do is book out as far as possible. The closer you are to the date of travel, the higher the ticket prices will be.

All the online discounters are all pretty safe to go through. Just be sure you understand policies, etc. in case you need to cancel or change your flight. Look over what you book several times to make sure it is what you want/need. As far as the one site that is the best, it's really hard to tell you. They will all vary and change all the time. One site may be lower for one person, higher for the next. You just have to do your research and see what yo find. In my expereince, the cheapest way to go is directly through the airline. In my past dozen trips, that I can remember, the airline has always been cheaper than the online discounters. Just look around and see what you can find.

Check around online. There are several online discounters, like expedia, priceline, orbitz, etc. This is usually the cheapest way to go. But you should also check directly through airline sites to see if they are running a special. It is also easier to make changes if you use the airline directly instead of a discounter. For example, air tran often offers discounted tickets on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it is cheaper than through other online sites. I prefer to go with the air sites directly. Not only are they usually a less than discounters, but if you have to make a change or cancel, it is a lot easier than going with the discounters. Also watch in the newspapers and such, they often advertise specials in the newspaper .

Hope this helps!

regularly, booking an airfare as much as approximately 2 weeks departure won't effect the fee. in case you recognize while and the place you're going, possibility is you're flight will come on specific sometime interior the subsequent 6 months, as there are highs and lows each and every of the time.
