Is it worth visiting stanford university?

Going to san francisco soon. Is it worth visiting stanford campus? How much time does it take to tour it? Is there anything else to do around campus, such as food, shopping, activities? Please advise.

First, keep in mind that Stanford is about an hour south of San Francisco. Much closer to San Jose, actually. But it is a fun campus to explore. It's in a semi rural setting, but the nearby cities of Menlo Park, Palo Alto and Mountain view have plenty of shopping, food and activities.



And, despite what others who have no clue may say, Stanford is NOT part of the City of Palo Alto. It even has it's own post office and ZIP code.

Stanford is about an HOUR south of San Francisco in Palo Alto. If you like to take tours of different colleges then by means go ahead. But its not a tourist destination.

Personally, I wouldn't think of Stanford as a tourist destination. If you are the sort who likes to visit college campuses, then why not? Palo Alto around Stanford is a perfectly nice, upscale town, but there's lots of those in the Bay Area. So - sure, why not? Is it the best use of time? Not if you miss Muir Woods because of it.

stanford is in the town of palo alto so besides the campus there are shops and restaurants in the town

Hi i am new here, i am from PH. My friends brought me there few weeks ago. if you wanna see Greek Houses, (specially if you watched House Bunny and Van Wilder!) you would enjoy it with your friends! Loved it there. Good luck! :)
